MK1 Eighties Sunset Artwork

History behind the design

The Guigiaro designed MK1 seen the daylight in 1974 as a replacement for the Beetle. With its light weight, sharp steering, and inspiring road manners the new VW soon set standards for what a small car should be like. There was a lot of different variations of MK1's such as Cabrio, Jetta, Caddy and the Citi Golf which was produced until 2009! These days Mark I is regarded as a classic car already and is really popular among VW enthusiasts, tuners or they are used for track use.
