Since Bangkok is a big destination for sex tourism, I was wondering what was most hotel's policies regarding bringing in "guest" to your hotel room. I went to Costa Rica a couple of years ago and I saw several hotel patrons having problems because the hotels had a problem with guys bringing in women to the hotels.
Some other hotels even had a fee for visitors. I'm not saying I am going to Bangkok for these purposes, nor I am condemning the people that go there for that. I am just wondering how these hotels operate.
Can I expect a bunch of men hanging out with women at most hotels, or do these men take care of their business back at the so called "bars"? If I was into mongering the first thing one would do when checking into a Hotel would be to come straight out with it, ie where do I stand??
To be honest where the sort of 'Rooms for a night'places exist there could be a degree level of crime like thieving or rowdiness, it seems to be part and parcel of this side of life, and obviously like you say BKK and Thailand in general has a slice of the sex tourism market, its been there for years and will be around no doubt years to come. Around Nana , Cowboy, Ratchada and Silom, you are more likely to be aware of people coming and going throughout the night.
If you don't like noise, another area might be more suitable. Some hotels simply won't let you in with a thai women period. Which is understandable, those hotels are more for families and couples. Make sure you ask ahead. If they do, be prepared to pay a fee for an extra guest. Its not like Canadian hotels don't charge more for 2 in a room usually 10 dollars a guest so I am sure most countries do it anyways, nbd right?
