I arrived at Khao San Road after the car had circled the block a few times, and several people had been stopped along the way for directions. Pi Noi had a meeting in Bangkok and conveniently was also staying on Khao San Road, so she was able to take me. Joley met me at the police station and we shared a big hug, finally reunited. Chrissie, and Samaa were in tow, and I greeted them too, not having seen them since orientation either. The girls led me to thehotel that the car seemed to have such trouble finding.
The atmosphere was buzzing with vendors trying to take advantage of the throng of people; most a little merry and inhibited from alcohol. They sold everything, ranging from dodgy tattoos to scorpions on sticks , and the usual tourist souvenir bric-a-brac. The air was thick with the clashing sounds of music blaring out from the bars, fighting to attract the attention of the tourists and reel them in.
We arrived at the hotel where I dropped off my bag, and then headed straight out to dinner. I was eager to catch up with Joley and the girls, all of us sharing anecdotes of our experiences so far; the highs and the lows. I wish I could just be there to give you a hug some times. My first bite of western food in four weeks consisted of the typical pizza and pasta.
