Great for value. The service is amazing. The place can be busy at time so try to book in advance not to be disappointed. I loved the beach it was so clean and beautiful and massive. Highly recommended for a peaceful holiday. Stayed in Hotel da Rocha - fantastic all round from decor, room, breakfast and so on, only complaint was weekend cleaning staff were poor and normal week day cleaners were excellent.
A two week stay is good for the hotel but not the resort. The beach is pretty, cleanliness is fine but not the cleanest I have seen. There is reasonable edible food in places along the beach. The area is culture-less, the locals are for the most part rude and arrogant, I think Hotel da Rocha took every well mannered local and employed them! Honestly we couldn't believe it how bad the locals were, very few were friendly, smiled, most really had a bad attitude and were making terrible faces and wouldn't smile and were awkward about you even ordering.
Normally tip a lot on holiday and I have never tipped so little away. Have never been on a sun holiday where staff everywhere were so bad - it was in nearly all the food places, loads of shops, the supermarkets were very bad for it too. And no it wasn't us we were happy smiley holiday people :-! I know it's a sun holiday but other sun destinations geared up for the English speaking countries have some culture - such as a choice of native restaurants at least, music etc - couldn't find a Portuguese restaurant anywhere on the main.
Had Portuguese meals at commercial restaurants and the food was frankly barely edible. This was the scene all across with good restaurants few and far between but disgusting expensive food commonplace. Food is very very expensive for a sun destination, particularly for what it is, price does not matter in praia da rocha you can pay top price for disgusting food and the better ones were cheaper! Go to O'Baro and Dolce Vita you are safe with them. Tried loads of places over two weeks, didn't try titanic though as opened late enough and wanted to eat and go out before everyone went to bed at 12pm The night life was brutal.
Not looking for Ibiza as a couple but this was ridiculous. During the day and through the night it was commonplace to be harassed by drug dealers all along the main strip for you to buy drugs from them every day.
