They have a podcast too, of the same name. This book is helping me appreciate pop music at a deeper level. At least appreciating the structure.
I heard a lot of structure this night. Doing the deeper research helped me appreciate how these two pop artists are constructing their music.
Sure enough, after the designated three songs we were all given permission to shoot, the lights went up for song four. I understand that the artist might like to start their set in total darkness to create a mood, even three songs worth.
So this is why I suggest to have the photographers enter the pit after the total darkness when the lights go on. Repeat: When the lights go on. Then Tove Lo broke onto the set and what a great performance!
I took special notice of how they put together the stage with the musicians on risers high on the sides creating a large dance area in the center for Tove Lo to do her stuff. Here the lighting was great. I can see how this set up would translate to any stage size for a superb presentation.
