This is a genuine Japanese style inn in warehouse design, which offers all rooms facing the garden. But they speak very little English. Communication was difficult. Cons: Room is too small for a family of four. The dining area is just like a school canteen without any privacy at all.
Especially when we had our breakfast, there was a tour group of some 25 people from China seating next to you. It was noisy and messy. Beds were comfy, and consistent flow of Japanese green tea. Private onsen was also great and the staff were delightful. We arrived early and dropped our bags off and when we came back to check in they had moved them to our room for us! A true ryokan experience Cons: Pretty far out of town, took us a while to work out the buses which are often late but after that it was fine.
The dinner included was also fabulous. I love the little garden. Quite far from Kofu station 20 mins bus ride so quite inconvenient traveling with heavy luggage. Would be fine if driving. The staff is incredibly gratitude and courteous! At PM, the lobby area turns into a lounge for karaoke and serves spirits and beer, which we really liked. Onsens are clean and relaxing - ryokan has indoor and outdoor for female, as well as males, Food is provided on the lanai to feed the koi fish in the garden pond.
Ryokan has ample, free parking. Cons: Interior is dated, but we commonly find this for older, traditional ryokans. If you want one that is pristine, then go to a modern ryokan that is pricier. Garden pond is murky, much unlike the clear water we typically encounter for koi ponds. The garden was also a little unkempt for Japanese standards.
