Cienfuegos is a sweet city - great discos, awesome dancers, simply the coolest spanish colonial homes. Unbeknownst to us this resort is also a haven for pervy, old, gnarly leches to bring little cuban girls 'for some fun'.
We were surrounded by many Canadian and European men on sex vacation with hired Cuban girls some appearing to be underage!!! This grossed us out exponentially. We had some frank conversations with some of these men and discovered that the normalizing of the purchasing of these young girls and what you can get for how much We were quite upset to witness this. A few folks left for this reason, we wrote to the management of the hotel and spoke to the tourist information representative at the airport upon our departure.
I have travel alot in the world and have never been forced to witness this kind of behaviour and found it very disturbing. If the hotel can clean up this part I would highly recommend the location and the resort staff were wonderful. Fist of all, save your money and go elsewhere. There are much better places to go for the same amount of money, believe me.
We have been to many many places. Ill give you some reasons why and leave it to you to make your decision. When we were there there was NO entertainment. You read it right. One cuban side trip tour guide told us hotel was going Down in service for the last 5 years and even mentioned that they had no entertainment group there when we were there.
The wife signed up for a day trip and at the last minute was told that because they were short ONE person for a group minimum that they would not receive an included meal. On the way to hotel from airport the rep promised all sorts of things like a 24 hour bar, an extended snack bar just to name a few. WELL when we got there all was not true. When we asked why we were told this when we saw it was not there, all we got was a shrugging of shoulders.
