OK so a lot of reviewers complained about the old men with young girls it never bothered us because they keep to themselves, but anyway , I just wanted to let people know we just returned from Club Amigo Mayanabo yesterday and saw NO prostitues on or near the resort. They have a zero tolerance policy in place now, which will make a lot of people happy. I have been there several times with friends, and then with my boyfriend and we have even taken our baby there a few times now.
The staff is incredibly kind and friendly, the weather was amazing, we love the huge pool and quiet beach, and although the hotel looks a bit run down it is SO clean and the landscaping is beautiful. They are doing massive renovations in block 2, and our room in block one was also really nice so all in all we had a great time and will continue to go there. It is a fantastic place to take kids, because it is safe, not packed, and all the employees seem to genuinely love children.
The food is a bit repetitive, but our 18 month old loved it. For grownups I recommend the pasta bar at dinner, snack bar by the pool in the afternoon, and at the buffet the fish is always really good and fresh, plus you can get salads, rice, beans and fruit. If you are looking for If you are looking for a place to relax in the sun, go out at night and feel safe, or bring kids, this is fantastic. If you are looking for a 5 star resort where you can shop, lay in bed all day and watch great tv, or eat fancy meals, don't expect it for what you pay to go here.
We have been to thsoe resorts and did not have as much fun as we do at Mayanabo, though : More. I went to this resort with my best friend for 7days. It was the greatest time ever, all the people there are very friendly, the shows they put on every night are rather entertaining and the fun to be had is plentiful.
Victor and Jimmy were the MCs for the show, great people, very kind, take the time to get to know them and the trip will be all the more enjoyable. Even the dancers are nice people, they arent allowed to drink during the day, but some might ask you to fill a thermus for them. Room service was very nice aswell, instead of tipping we left items.
