You cannot go to Colonia and do not take thousands of pictures to this street! The best way to visit it is to pick a sunny day and you will get awesome pictures. Beautiful old homes and businesses outlying cobblestone streets; pretty plants and shrubbery as well. A nice quiet place for a stroll. My husband, daughter and I visited here on a day trip from Buenos Aires.
The weather when we departed the city was foggy and rainy, by the time we arrived in this magical place it was sunny and bright. This town is beautiful. It is a blast from the past. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys history. It is a streets that ends on the river. It was supposed to be named under the prostitutes houses there, but there is another story for the name. The sighs that those condemned to death gave when were attached only with their head out waiting for the tide to fully covered them.
This picturesque little street is the first thing you come to after entering Colonia's historic centre. The cobbled street, colourful buildings and beautiful flowers are pure postcard material.
