This place was very interesting to visit and experience the goings on at the border. For someone On our free day we decided to go over the border into Myanmar. The bridge is very busy with huge It is a bridge with people and cars going across it.
Many trucks with goods heading to Myanmar are queued up. Around the bridge is VERY dirty and quite a lot of people trying to sell you cigarettes, alcohol, drugs or prostitutes. If not heading into Myanmar The market close to the bridge is nothing special either. Super easy crossing with helpful staff on both sides, loads of transport as well, would use it again. If you already have a valid multi-entry visa this may be good for you too!
Did research and read all reviews and forums I could find before choosing to travel by road in our pickup from Phitsanulok. Arrived in Mae Sot at 4pm and decided to give the crossing a go. Easy to find parking close to bridge used google maps and street view My wife waited for me whilst I literally hot footed it 1st to Thai immigration to check out having completed my departure form - then through a turnstile and customs without delay over the bridge ignoring all distractions straight to a small aircon office left side of Burmese immigration about 8 people in front - a short wait - filled out form - immigration officer looked at passport asked where my visa was and how long I was staying - I said I would like to return immediately to Thailand - he said baht which I had ready, handed it over - passport was stamped in and out.
I tried a Jeezu de ba day - I think that is Thank you in Burmese he seemed to appreciate my effort! Hot footed back to Thai immigration gate 14 had to ask official for Arrival card - handed this completed with passport - result another 90 days stamp! All in all very quick and efficient much quicker than Non Khai and closer to Phitsanulok! It was nothing spectacular. Although it appears to hold great friendship value between copuntries, there is nothing really exciting about this bridge.
Just another significant crossing point between the countries. Entry on Sunday morning is fast. Immigration official was amenable.
