Sorry to hear from you but it's useful to hear that side of the coin too! Yes there are some lousy car and tuktuk drivers but there's an increasing number of lousy tourists too!
Evening in Tangalle they tell him they've run out of cash, but 'will go to ATM tomorrow morning and he can come at 11 AM to collect his money'. Driver arrives at 11 and hotel staff tell him that guests have left at, yes, 9 AM Had similar sort of behaviour with the Russians in Goa , We ended up stopping going and switched to Sri Lanka and had some great times.

This sort of thing recently also happened to my very dear friend in Cambodia who is a very hard working lady who escorts and assists tourists during their time in the country to supplement her very small income.
Same nationality of people. At the end of the day they asked her to wait while they went to get some money and never came back. Unfortunately some people from that part of the world are leaving behind a very bad reputation for the majority who are probably honest and good people. I can see that it won't be long before many people working in the tourist industry will refuse to service them at all.
