But I am beginning to realize that writing a Word Press blogpost is much like packing for a long vacation: half the baggage and double the worth. With blog-posting, this means reducing the number of words while trying to make each word matter. I started this post 20 days ago, but Word Press proved difficult in that it would not accept the photos I tried to copy and paste nor did it like the length of my original submission.
After a week of futility trying to defy the parameters the WP system insisted, I had to create an entirely new post which is what lies before your eyes.
I went walking on Saturday 28 August 21 kilometres from Polatli Station to Gordion and played tourist yesterday 4 September visiting Sivrihisar, Nasrettinhoca and Pessinus. It is my hope that tonight, finally, that Word Press will allow this post to be published and I can get on with my life…. Last evening after work Rasool, my foreman and my friend, and I had supper together at a nearby restaurant. I like spending time with a fellow teacher, because from each teacher we learn not just what we are told, but also who the person is.
I mention this minor of moments not to sing the praises of the eatery wherein we feasted or to triumphantly glorify the character of my friend, but rather to recall an episode of conversation in our interlude that the mind whispers to the memory:. Dramatic moments that at the time of their occurrence we assume will loom large fade with the years. A good conversation, a delicious discussion, a compelling chat does not follow a formula, but wanders about like a stumbling drunk, weaving its way back and forth with no certainty of a destination achieved or goal accomplished.
Our conversation came around to the topic of life goals and Rasool expressed a desire for higher education than that which he already possesses. At that moment of approving this direction of his desire, I mentioned that one of the ten books I would grab should, by happenstance, my apartment were suddenly in flames, highly recommended his course of action within and without academia.
