We cook food to feed her dinner. We clean the house and stress all day instead of relaxing. She does it at the holidays. She does it on summer weekends when we all could have been doing something else. To fit her into our crammed weekend, we cut out some much-needed quiet family time and naps at our house before we went to the fireworks at We had been planning this with her all week.
She said yes. We arrived, and guess what?! She had decided to go out on her boat instead. So, I took my son swimming. Thank God [Retail Chain] is cheap. It was too hot to not swim. So, we were splashing around and actually having a great time, and about three hours later, the frantic texts and calls began.
I made [Husband] turn his phone off. We ate fast food for dinner and went to a completely different spot to watch the fireworks than we usually do. It was on the river, the sunset over the water was absolutely beautiful, and we had tons of fun giving each other silly Internet quizzes.
I generally do not drink alcohol. I am at such a wedding, and I have been drinking soda water with a lime all evening. I get my drink from the bar, and one of the guys at my table who I met today for the first time sees me. I never drink outside of that.
Do you not like the taste? I was working the front register at a fast food place that served burgers when four girls came in together. One girl was complaining. The other three girls ignored her and ordered pleasantly enough, and even the disappointed girl was plenty nice, so I decided to see what I could do. We served chicken tender wraps, and we had a taco salad at the time. Between that and being a burger restaurant, we technically had everything needed to make a taco. With a little creative voodoo on the register and a word with the sandwich maker, we were able to fill the craziest customer request I ever had while working in fast food.
