The return of Black Lives Matter on May 25, coincided with a historic surge in black homicide fatalities and traffic fatalities. Is the Floyd Effect the most obvious phenomenon in the history of American social sciences? So, when you tell blacks that they really really matter, they go out and murder more and drive crazier.
The Ferguson effect did that, I guess. But what if there is more at work than the Ferguson effect? In other words, when you tell black people that they really really matter, they are so great, they go out and do other things differently. All sorts of things. I guess this is like giving a participation trophy to all of the child athletes, in other words, telling the last-place runners how great they are.
How does this affect them? At the other extreme, is there anything whiter than the Rutherford family of Belgium? Zara Rutherford became the youngest woman yawn and first Belgian mildly interesting to fly solo around the world in whatever contraption she did it in. Does the EU suffer an equivalent of our H-1b visa, making the field even less attractive than it already is?
