Well i been hearing this question alot and lately i been going to tijuana staying a few nights there sometimes.. I been going there solo. My thing is when i go to Tijuana i do not drive across. I walk across on the east side crossing cause i like to stay at hotel publa amigo its like a 5 min walk once you cross but if your alone and kinda scared to cross by yourself and you buy yourselffind another tourist people and walk with them.
If your gonna do a day trip in tijuana take the cab or uber if your gonna take uber sit in the front seat. I would just recommend staying in the tourist area.. When walking in the tourist area and for some reason you might be afarid of the police there i would recommend walk closer to the stores and restraunt side that in case if you feel uncomfortable you can dip in a store or restraunt cause there is usually other tourist and alot more people.. Which i think happens more at night outside the toursit area.
But if you find your self in that situation. But make sure you do have money in your wallet and other money hidden elsewhere so if they do end up takeing your momey you still have the rest of your money. My thing is stay away from places you dont know.. But if you want to stay the night in tijuana i recomend staying in either hotel ticuan or puebla amigo hotel and if you want to do the night life i would take the yellow cab.
Book in advance you can get it as low as 60 dollars but its ususlly like 70 to Its more of higher end hotel for tijuana.. But i feel safe there and people are friendly. Crossing on the other side cause its a less wait the most i ever waited was like 10 to 20 min compare to over an hour sometimes 3 at the east crossing.. Im not saying anything is gonna happen to you.. To me tijuana is very safe its just now a few bad apples can ruin it for someone just like anywere in ths world.
But i had bribe money gave them like 35 dollars i think but not all my money my other money was hidden were i knew they would not search which they did not find..
