Footage shared to social media shows ugly clashes between fans. We have more newsletters. Tottenham's football game against Marseille last night was marred by ugly clashes between the teams' fans. Video footage shared to social media by one fan shows bottles being thrown across the crowd as security struggle to hold people back. The embarrassing scenes show the opposing teams' fans separated into two different sections with a line of security down the middle, yet some football hooligans still tried to push past and run over.
Security guards trying to do their job were hit, punched and pushed trying to hold the men back. Started with Marseille fans throwing a few missiles at Spurs fans, before escalating into a fight with stewards. Riot police arrived to calm things down. Another video shared to Twitter by a fan appears to show fans pulling down Tottenham's pride flag. Sharing the clip online, one fan wrote: "Ugly scenes at the Tottenham stadium.
Fighting, flares and missiles thrown from the visiting fans. Disgusting to see. The arrests were for a variety of offences including offensive weapon, affray, drunk and disorderly and drugs; all those arrested are believed to be away supporters.
One officer was injured during an arrest and suffered a suspected broken hand. There was serious disorder at the end of the fixture and additional officers were deployed to restore and maintain order. Do you have a story you think we should be covering? Email ella.
