Contact Admin. Hi my wife and i are looking to book at the Mary Rose condos in Sosua for my wifes 50th birthday. I have read the good reviews and they seem the ideal place to go for a holiday. But I have also read that Sosua is a Red light District at night is this correct or not.
I've not noticed any red lights. Outside of this two block area, which at night is quite lively, there is not any "in your face" prostitution. You will see some "odd" couples but that is what it is. Sosua beach is a great place to spend the day and there are many restaurants that are good and you'l feel at ease dining in.
Sosua IS a red light district. The place is saturated with very aggressive prostitutes. I didn't notice it so much when I stayed there alone on my first trip. However, when I went with my husband, they were like Zombies creeping all over the place. Although my husband ignored them, they made cat calls and used their wiles to try to lure him right in front of my face.
They have no respect for wives. They don't care what the husband looks like or how old he is. When they look at him, they see dollar signs. On a couple of occasions I had to confront prostitutes for their disrespectful brazenness. I told them I would slap the taste out of their mouths in Spanish and English if they didn't stop bothering us. I will never go there with my husband again. It just isn't worth going to jail in a foreign country.
Take your wife to a nice place where she won't have to defend your honor. NO Sosua is not Red light district.
