However, it can be hard to know where to begin and how to see the best of Copenhagen in a short period of time. Therefore, I decided to compile this guide for future DIS students and first-time visitors featuring photos of my Copenhagen guests.
The Palace trio: Amalienborg, Christianborg, and Rosenborg Amelienborg is the current residence of the royal family, Christianborg is the home of the Danish parliament and Supreme Court and includes a tower, royal kitchen and stables, and Rosenborg is a former summer palace with beautiful surrounding gardens.
With most of my visitors, I only viewed the outside of these palaces, but by the end of the semester, I had visited the inside of each. Bonus tip: Glypotek has free admission on Tuesdays Glypotek scuptures Design Museum I ended up visiting the design museum three times.
In my mind, this museum is one of the most interesting in Copenhagen and displays the uniqueness of Scandinavian design. Tivoli is well manicured and quaint, and feels a bit like Disney without the crowds. A non-functioning but iconic windmill in Malmo I visited Lund by accident during my first week in Copenhagen, check out one of my earlier blog posts for more of the story but found it to be one of the most charming places I visited. Humlebaek, the town where the Louisiana is located, is on the way to Helsingor, so the two can easily be combined in a day.
I heard about groups of DIS students traveling to the Louisiana in the beginning of the semester, some fully enjoying the experience and others leaving disappointed. However, even the students that left slightly disappointed raved about the location.
