Which, CubaTraveller is just what I advised Adi to do, but to no avail. Ah well, the damage is done now. Most of the reviews were positive but one reviewer had a bad time so they dragged every negative observation into their review. Interestingly one of the things they mentioned was prostitution. This issue has been raised in this thread. Looking back I suppose it was going on at the hotel but we were on holiday,winding down and most of all out to have a great time.
So we were not closely watching what was going on behind the scenes. Even if there were prostitutes around and any other dodgy practices we were not personally bothered so we just had a great time. If there are any out there please let me know. I am not sure the Sol has deteriorated so much since our visit 7 months ago. Maybe it has but we aint going back to find out. I have to agree with Mgggggggg, we too were on holiday recently at the Sol Thats what we work hard for every year.
We dont spend every waking hour watching what the staff are doing. As for Prostitution This one beats 'the no yorkshire puddings on Christmas day'. Of course we are all entitled to our opinions, good or bad, that's what TA is here for, to give people an idea of places to visit, what may be a great place for one, may not be for another, that's life, as we all have different tastes, so keep them coming, however, what I do object to, as with most others here, is name dropping when they can't even defend themselves.
Yes, things happen, people may do things for any reason, it isn't just Cuba , hence why we try to go with an open mind, no matter where we go.
If you complain to the general manager and don't get anywhere, take it the next level up. We have been going to this resort for some years now and never have we been treated this way, no matter whether we tipped or not, cigars anyone? Yes, we were asked, we were also pre-warned before we went, but when we said no, we were never asked again and I would not go and report that person on here, we have been to many European destinations, Italy, Spain, Malta, Greece, Germany and so on and were constantly approached, cigarettes, gold, watches, sometimes, saying no didn't stop them and it got quite annoying, we never experienced this at the SCG.
