Casilda is the seaport of the town of Trinidad and rather quiet. We are sure that once you are here you will enjoy all that the little village offers, including the nearby beaches on Ancon and the historic city of Trinidad. Crystal clear waters beckon from the south part of this tranquil Caribbean islet, km south of Havana and known for its 27 km of stunning white sand beaches, mangrove forests and scuba diving to the black coral reef.
Maria la Gorda beach, 8 km of fine white sand, is on the Bahia de Corrientes Bay of Currents famed for its cut-glass clear waters. The translucent waters attract scuba divers year-round while the golden sand, the warm mornings and the whisper of the breeze from the sea invites rest, relaxation and a freeing of the spirit. It can be described as three cities in one: Old Havana, Vedado and the newer suburban districts.
The city is also noted for its history, culture, architecture and monuments. Just arrive with an open mind and prepare yourself for a long, slow seduction. We will start with a panoramic sightseeing tour of this exciting city, including a stop at the Plaza de la Revolucion.
Enjoy a welcome lunch at La Barraca Restaurant, located in Hotel Nacional de Cuba, which specializes in Cuban cuisine and offers breathtaking views of the Bay of Havana. Remain at the hotel for an engrossing lecture with well-known architect Pedro Vasquez. Continue to the pier for embarkation on the ship, followed by a boat drill and welcome briefing. After breakfast, we will start our Optional walking exploration in Old Havana.
