My cousin, mother and aunt are looking to go to Cuba in October on a bit of a budget and both of these two hotels don't look too bad. I have read a lot about the prostitution. Is it very obvious? Any opinion on which one is the better. Also what is the weather like in October? No, the prostitution is not that obvious, although it,s more appearant in low season as the places are not as crowed.
In my experience, it was even less obvious at Brisas than the other places. October is hurrican season, so there are chanes of rain and hurrican. I personnaly prefer Brisas, it's bigger, the pool is nicer, the food selection is also better. But some will prefer the cosy atmosphere of the Caracol and the rooms there are really big and nice, although a bit outdated for the ones that have not been renovated.
Thanks, does Brisas have a swim-up bar and would we be able to get a room that is central. My aunt went to the Dominican last year and the resort was so huge that you basically needed walkie talkies to find anyone. Which resort would you say had the better food? And in October, you will most likely be in the rooms that are closed to everything but can send an email to request it specificaly if you wish.
We were at the Gran Club in Nov. Maybe there's a big diff. RBF, in my experience, prostitute are more noticeble at the Gran. I think it might be because they were tolerate by the establisment even before April 1 when Cubans were finally allowed to go to the hotels.
And I agree, write complains, they will have to start to "open their eyes" to the problem. I was worried about the prostitution before we went to Brisas in July, however I was pleased to find, that it was not noticeable at all!! Nice swim up bar at Brisas and if you get buildings you would be quite central in my opinion.
