I am off to Hainan for the Chinese new year and should be staying for about 10 days. I would like to hear some advice about what to do, where to go etc If you like to see Chinese men in suits with the trousers rolled up, sitting on a beach with umbrellas, then Hainan's great. I am sure Hangzhou is much nicer place to spend a couple of weeks than Hainan.
The thing is my trip to Hainan will be free. Flights, hotels and whatever else. I was thinking i could at least get some fresh air and enjoy some sun.
I am not a big fan of Chinese men in suits with the trousers rolled up, sitting on a beach with umbrellas or hookers and bad fish. It's aweful during chunjie. People constantly stepping on your feet, no deckchairs available at any time.
After five minutes the buffet looks like there had been an air raid. Depending on where you go, you have either noisy Russians or loud Chinese in your ear. When you live in a resort, you actually don't have to leave, because outside the complex, there's nothing to see, except for construction sites and rotten fishermen villages.
Anyways, if you got the money, just fly to Okinawa. There you got a real beach with a real ocean, no hookers and no people bothering you. If you are staying in Yalong Bay at one of the big resorts, it is very nice and expensive during the holiday - otherwise, not much going for it other than nice weather the air is fine and the temperatures average about this time of year. CNY will be really crowded, and these resorts are definitely family-oriented places If you are into scuba diving, forget it.
