Like the look of Los Cerros but it looks a bit overrated. Any comments on this or recommendations on special other places? One budget option is Altas Cumbres, although its strictly a no-frills place. They all look good.
Has anyone stayed at El Pilar? I spent four days in El Chalten in November I actually don't like the newer hotels there, they spoil the small village atmosphere.
We stayed in a lovely, well furnished, new, very clean little cabin, owned by a local couple. They built the cabin in front of their house, and it was just a perfect accomodation. It's called "Cabanas La Loma" and you can find their contact details on www.
We did a tour to the Glaciar Grande with Fitzroy Expeditions, and really liked it, our guide, Fernando, was very good and professional.
Another day we did a hike starting from the Hosteria del Pilar, which looked very pretty, but it's a little far out. El Chalten is just an unforgettable place, I hope you'll like it. Let me know if I can answer any other question. Los Nires was nice and clean but in no way spectacular.
