My husband and I are trying to decide a travel route. We are currently in Pichelemu and are considering whether to go to Mendoza or not. We are flying from Santiago to Bariloche but the dates are flexible so do we spend the time, 1 in Mendoza, 2 in the south, lake district, or 3 in to La Serena. Advice would be greatly appreciated. I cant answer your question unless you tell us more about yourselves and what your interests are. Suffice it to say that if you are serious wine aficionados, Mendoza is not to be missed. I can't think of anything negative about Mendoza? We arrived here on the 6. Having survived three days acclimatising into the gritty and infuriating maelstrom that is BA, this place looks like heaven. Apart from the obligatory hike into the Andes tomorrow, we intend to spend our time chilling out amongst the vineyards and sampling their produce.
Worth it? Wake me up later this afternoon and I will tell you. I'm going back for six more weeks, so it's going to take all may vacation dollars again in I'm probably the only person I know who had a bad time in Mendoza -- and that wasn't Mendoza's fault.
I blame it entirely on the 5 unpaid hookers and no, I had nothing to do with them rendering their services and the mafiosos-- oh and miserable man who stuck his head out of his hotel room door to tell us to shut up while we were busy dealing the the former. I'd go back if I could. It's best that I don't. Mendoza is fab! Next time I go to Argentina , I will make it a point to spend more time there.
